DPD and Radius Group are to build a sorting terminal

Moscow, May 11, 2021  DPD, Russia's largest logistics operator, has signed a long term lease agreement (bts (built to suit) with Radius Group, the leading developer and owner of warehouse and industrial property in the south of Moscow. The total area of the facility will be 30,000 sq m. Cushman & Wakefield, an international real estate consultancy, acted as a consultant for the deal. The logistics centre will employ around 1,000 people. Commissioning is scheduled for Q1 2022, with operations starting in Q3 2022.

The new hub will be the largest DPD terminal in Eastern Europe and the CIS. It will be located on the territory of South Gate Industrial Park. It is the largest manufacturing and warehouse complex in Russia which is certified to  BREEAM and LEED international standards for energy efficiency and environmental performance. The total area of the facility is 550,000  sq m.

When choosing a site for DPD, it was important not only the high quality of storage facilities and engineering infrastructure, but also the strategic location of the South Gate Industrial Park: the complex is located at the intersection of three federal highways-A-107, the M-4 (Don) highway and the A-113 Central Ring Road, in close proximity to the key air harbor of the capital — Domodedovo Airport, and just 20 minutes from Moscow. From the capital, five major regional cities are located in the direction of the "South Gate" — Vidnoye, Domodedovo, Belye Stolby, Stupino and Kashira. Such a location of the terminal will give an additional opportunity for employment in a large international company for their residents. And the proximity of railway stations and a bus stop will allow people to get to the workplace in a short time.

Anna Matveeva, Director of Operations, DPD Russia:

"The new terminal will become DPD Russia's central hub for parcel sorting. We are pleased to have chosen a reliable developer who offers not only a convenient location for us and our customers, but also guarantees an environmentally friendly development. Energy-efficient construction technology will save resources, and the latest equipment we will equip the hub will further improve service quality. Thanks to the unique sorting system, we will be able to process many times as many parcels in a timely manner.

Zakhar Valkov, Radius Group CEO:

"DPD is a major international company and one of the most demanding customers in the market, including when it comes to environmental issues. Our contract will be fulfilled according to detailed technical specifications, this applies to the facility itself as well as the surrounding area, car parks, etc. We are delighted that Radius Group has been chosen to build its strategic and largest logistics hub. It confirms our long-standing reputation as a professional developer and socially responsible company.

Alexander Kulakov, Partner, Head of Corporate Clients at Cushman & Wakefield, Warehousing & Industrial Real Estate:

"Thanks to Radius Group's professional team, DPD will have a new fully customised hub to meet the high requirements of the company's logistics processes. It is an example of the implementation of a customer-friendly parcel handling building, including three-way cross-docking (end-to-end warehousing) and a unique design for an automated sorting line with future expansion potential. Thank to everyone involved for their professionalism and for this new unique project in the market.

The strategic location of the terminal will solve several challenges at once. Close proximity to the Kashirskoye and Novokashirskoye highways will make it possible to reach Moscow in twenty minutes. The road to Domodedovo airport will take fifteen minutes, and the Moscow Little Ring will provide efficient logistics to the regions. Even more transport options are offered by the recently constructed new federal motorway, the Central Ring Road (CRR).
