Radius Group To Build National Spare Parts Distribution Center For General Motors

GENERAL MOTORS TO CONSOLIDATE ITS SPARE PARTS DISTRIBUTION AT NEW PURPOSE-BUILT 40,000 M2 FACILITY IN RADIUS GROUP’S SOUTH GATE INDUSTRIAL PARK

Moscow, Russia – 23 September 2013 – Radius Group, Russia’s most responsible, best in class provider of warehouse and manufacturing real estate solutions, has been selected by General Motors CIS to construct a national spare parts distribution facility.  General Motors is expected to consolidate its various Moscow spare parts centers at a new, purpose-built 40,000 m2 facility in Radius Group’s South Gate Industrial Park beginning February 2015.

Demonstrating its commitment to Russian market growth and service levels, General Motor’s signed an unusually long fourteen-year lease. Radius Group believes such commitment demonstrates that the largest US automobile manufacturer is highly confident in Radius’s ability to construct, manage and maintain the facility to its very demanding international standards. General Motors has also acquired the option to expand the facility by an additional 25 percent, or 10,000 m2.

“General Motors values that South Gate has the highest BREEAM-rated building of any type in Russia,” said Christopher Van Riet, Radius Group Managing Director.  South Gate is the first and remains the only BREEAM / Green industrial park in Russia.  This ensures South Gate tenants that its buildings have low environmental impact, lower energy consumption, lower running costs and optimum working environments.

South Gate Industrial Park is located in the southern outskirts of Moscow and is already a Russian base of operations to some of the world’s most discerning companies with diverse and specific real estate requirements, including John Deere (USA), Decathlon (France), Hartmann (Germany), Iron Mountain (USA), Volvo Trucks (Sweden), Oriola (Finland), Tablogix (Russia), FM Logistic (France), and others.

The Radius Group team worked diligently for several years to achieve the lease. “For General Motors to select Radius Group over other developers in Moscow is testimony to our years of dedication to building a world class warehouse complex in Russia that meets the highest standards of responsible business practice,” said Van Riet.  “For our team it’s a crowning achievement.”
